LIONS CLUB Of MUMBAI CARTER ROAD
LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 323A3
We have great pleasure in welcoming you to the Lions Club of Mumbai Carter Road, which was inaugurated on 29th June, 2000 at the hands of then Vice District Governor Lion Udaykumar Vinzanekar. Our Parent club was Lions Club of Lokhandwalla Complex.
Initially there were only 31 Members but within 2 Months our membership grew to 51 and our club was presented the charter on 26th August, 2000 by then District Governor Lion U. Ramchandran.
Since then our club has grown in leaps and bounds and is today a Centurion Club of a hundred members which include Doctors, Bankers, Chartered Accountants, Lawyers, Businessmen, Teachers, and Singers among others. We are proud to have as our Honorary members, Lion Ameen Sayani, Lion Anuradha Paudwal, Lion Ravindra Jain, Lion Dr. G. G. Parekh, Lion Dr. Kanubhai Babla and Lion Dr. P.H. Udas.
Passionately committed to projects in such diverse fields like Health, Community Betterment and Education our first permanent project “Sulabh” was inaugurated on 1st September, 2002.
Since 1987 we have been associated with Yusuf Meherally Centre, Tara where we have donated a Water Treatment Plant which provides clean drinking water to some 5000 villagers. Over 200 cataract operations are also conducted here annually for local residents.
Among our other permanent projects are Eye and Health check-up camps at Gagangiri Maharaj Ashram, Khopoli and cataract operations at Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Lodhivali.
Our Bio Gas Plant at Baba Bhaskar Pawar Vrudhashram helps fuel the kitchen fires to feed over 200 elders of an old age home, whilst the three bore wells which we have donated quenches the thirst of villagers from remote villages in Vasai, Pingori and Hange.
Every month our ongoing Mercy Mission Campaign scrutinizes around 80 applications, for Cancer Care, Cataract Operation, Dialysis, or Educational Help and provides relief to deserving cases.
In the field of Education, we have been instrumental in selecting and sending 5 children to the Global Youth Leadership Summit at San Diego, California. The scholarship to the children is sponsored by Anthony Robbins Foundation U.S.A. and has become our prestigious project.
Under our ‘Each one, Reach one, Teach one’ Project, we adopt some 100 children every year and take care of their academic requirements. In association with other district clubs, we also provide Vocational Guidance Seminars where we reach out to more than 5000 school children every year.
Funds for all our projects come from donations from Club Members and generous philanthropists. Whilst a lot is being done, there’s still a lot more that needs to be done to mitigate the suffering of humanity and we welcome all who wish to join us in our mission to ‘SERVE.’
